When sending goods to the Philippines in wooden cases or pallets, the packaging also needs to be considered along with the goods inside. Choosing solid wood is not enough; Need to know the type of material, processing method and requirements applicable to the shipment's journey before completely packing.
Distinguish between raw wood and processed wood IPPC's
ISPM 15 covers raw wood packaging in international trade, including pallets, crates and dunnage. Packaging made entirely from certain processed materials, such as plywood, has exceptions in the standard. This does not mean that every package called “plywood” is automatically exempt, as the package may also use legs or other wooden reinforcement.
Xem ISPM standard 15 published by IPPC. The actual requirements of the shipment need to be compared with the packaging unit, transporter and importer; Do not stamp the wood yourself.
Send structural photos before deciding
Captures the exterior, pallet feet, stringers and interior inserts. If the packaging has a processing mark, take clear photos for the unit in charge to check. With reusable pallets, attention should be paid to repairing or replacing bars; Good appearance is not enough to confirm suitability.
- Determine the material of each part, not just the bulk wall panel.
- Ask the packaging unit about the handling plan and accompanying documents when needed.
- Check nails, protruding angle and lifting ability.
- Confirm whether or not packages can be stacked.
Measure both the legs and the bar
Measurements need to be taken according to the outermost dimension after completion. For example, if the pallet legs are wider than the box body, use the width of the legs when providing quote information. The weight must also include protective material, not just the product weight.
Avoid closing and then asking for conditions
A more labor-saving way is to send a product description and expected closing plan in advance. After reaching agreement, take photos of the finished product, weigh and measure again, and update the list. See packing instructions and clearly discuss which part of the packaging is included in the freight and which part is the separate packaging cost.
