Freight and import fees are components that need to be clearly separated. A shipping quote does not automatically mean that any taxes, handling or delivery fees are included.
Separate the three groups for easy comparison
| Amount group | Questions to ask |
|---|---|
| Service fee | Calculated for which route, in what unit? |
| Taxes/customs levies where applicable | Who is the basis of calculation and payer? |
| Other handling or delivery fees Is | included in the quote? In what cases does it arise? |
This list does not mean that every batch will generate all three groups. It helps you avoid interpreting an individual rate as a final total when the scope of service has not been determined.
Why is it necessary to declare the correct value of goods?
The Buying Online page of Philippine Customs states the PHP de minimis threshold 10,000 and indicates that tax liability depends on the value of the same type of goods. This is reference information about import processing, not a promise that “below the threshold there are no fees.” Source: Bureau of Customs.
The applicable threshold and determination of value must be checked according to regulations, nature of shipment and time of procedure. Don't lower the declared price or divide lots just to avoid obligations. Please keep the documents so the person in charge has a basis to check.
Who pays the revenue in the Philippines?
Ask clearly in the service closing content: which amounts are paid by the sender in Vietnam, and which amounts can be paid by the recipient. The recipient needs to know in advance the method of coordination instead of just hearing "the sender takes care of everything".
If the quote uses commercial terms you do not understand, please ask for an explanation in specific terms. A short message “includes A, excludes B; person C pays for B when applicable” is easier to compare than a generic advertisement.
When receiving a payment request via text message
Don't rush to transfer money just because the message has a parcel code or customs symbol. Please refer to the channel that is processing the shipment and request documents. Philippine Customs also warns against requiring tax payments to personal accounts. See warning on BOC page.
Only send necessary information to verified leads. Do not publish identification documents, authentication codes or all personal data of the recipient to ask on the community group.
Before agreeing to quote
- Delivery address and item have been confirmed.
- Goods value with supporting data when needed.
- Rate range is clearly written.
- Excluded items and responsible party stated.
- You keep the final quote and support contact.
