With fragile items, a “Fragile” label does not describe how the item needs to be protected. You should show the receiving unit the shape, size and sensitive parts before deciding how to pack the package.

Clearly capture the structure and current status

Capture the entire item and features such as handles, base, thin edges, glass or protrusions. If there are existing scratches or cracks, note them properly. Don't just use the product's promotional photo to replace the current status of the item being sent.

Send quantity and size of each item. For sets with multiple parts, clearly state which parts can be removed and which parts are fixed. Packagers need to understand the structure before recommending suitable protection.

See each layer of protection

DHL's packaging instructions emphasize choosing the right box and using cushioning material to protect the goods and handle empty space. This is a general rule of reference; Materials and specifications for a fragile item should be decided according to reality. Source: DHL, packing instructions.

Ask how to prevent items from touching each other, protect weak points and withstand external impacts. Do not assert yourself that just a few more layers of wrapping will satisfy the requirements for all materials.

When should we discuss reinforcement?

If the item is large, heavy, difficult to fold or has protruding points, send information to ask for outer packaging options. Do not finalize the final weight before knowing the packing and reinforcement required. Additional protection can change both weight and package size.

Xem how to weigh and measure after packaging to send the correct data for the price check step. Reducing packaging to reduce measurements must be weighed against the need to protect the goods.

Set of photos before handover

  • Current status of each item before wrapping.
  • Position of items in the package, when the arrangement is still visible.
  • Outer packaging and sealed backs.
  • Package number label corresponding to the manifest.

Keep the original image, do not edit it to lose traces of the current state. A set of photos is useful for comparison, but compensation conditions, types of risks handled and required documents must be asked separately before submitting.

Prepare for recipient

Send the recipient the package number and item list. Ask them to check the packaging, identify the package and note any abnormalities upon delivery. Instructions for opening the package should match the method of closing, especially when there are tools or reinforcement to be removed.

Read checklist when receiving goods in the Philippines. The article does not guarantee "unbreakable"; The goal is to help you prepare information and coordinate an informed examination.
